What Gives Me the Right to Write?

The hosts of a podcast that I regularly listen to often ask their guests what gives them the right to discuss their topic of choice. When contemplating whether or not to write a blog I really thought about this question. What gives me the right to write about my experiences?

The best place to start is my background. Even before I attended college, I knew that I would someday work on social media at some capacity. The summer after I graduated from high school I was presented an award from my favorite band for being their number one fan on social media. This was the first time that I truly recognized the possibilities that I had with social media and that I really could make a career out of it.

I went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration with focuses in Marketing and Management. From there I have worked my way up through multiple marketing jobs. These experiences include both for profit and nonprofit organizations. I have also volunteered my skills to different organizations to help them build their branding tools.

My hopes for this blog is not only to touch on my organizational marketing skills, but to also touch on my personal marketing skills. I have been fortunate to have many amazing opportunities present themselves to me in my personal life over the years and I can’t help but think that a majority of these events happened because I was able to properly market myself.

While I am a professional in the marketing world, I cannot promise that what has worked for me will work for you. I know personally there have been so many instances that I have wished that I had someone to ask these questions, so my hope is that you find my experiences helpful!

Until next time,
